Heln er alpha cell line

Cervical cancer cell line HeLa (ER negative) firstly transfected by a luciferase firefly gene under the control of an estrogen responsive element (ERE), secondly transfected by an ER alpha expression plasmid.

Interest / Relevance: These cells enable to measure the ER alpha estrogenic activity (full and partial agonism, antagonism) and the selectivity of pharmaceuticals (breast cancer, menopause treatment) or environmental compounds (industrials like alkylphenols, bisphenol A, phthalates or pesticides, cosmetics).
Estradiol EC50 (at this concentration, 50% of the maximal luciferase is obtained)is 16pM.
