This invention results from Pharmacologically Active Microcarriers (PAM) which are based on a biocompatible and biodegradable material. These particles made with poly(D,L-lactic-coglycolic acid) (PLGA) and coated with adhesion molecules may serve as a support for cell culture and may be used as cell carriers presenting a controlled delivery of active protein. They can thus support the survival and differentiation of the transported cells as well as their microenvironment and allow efficient integration of transplanted cells in the host tissue.
The autors have demonstrated the therapeutic potential of PAM in various clinical applications (parkinson disease, cartilage repair, ischaemic stroke, regeneration of post-ischemic tissues,...). Exclusive license available outside cell therapy for animal osteoarticular and pulmonary diseases.
